GRADUATES OF COURSE 25-2009, KENYA DEFENCE STAFF COLLEGE

Students from the Republics of Kenya, Botswana, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Sudan, South Africa and Zambia graduated after completing a 46-Weeks Course at the National Defence College in Kenya. The of the graduation ceremony was presided by the Honorable M. Yusuf Haji, EGH., M.P., and Minister of State for Defence at the Defence Staff college , Karen, on 2nd December, 2009.


The Minister noted that the college has addressed the training needs for the Kenya Armed Forces and friendly African countries since its inception in 1984, noting that the growing subscription by friendly African countries to the course is full testimony to the quality and excellence of the training offered at the College.
The course offers ordinary and Post Graduate Diploma Programmes. The Minister noted that this course is useful to any officer of the Armed Forces of the 21st Century, who is faced with a rapidly changing environment and threats of all kinds, and equips officers with the tools necessary for command and staff by enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in future responsibilities.


The Minister thanked, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Kenya, the friendly governments of Botswana, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Sudan, South Africa and Zambia for enabling participation of their officers in the important course. He said that he was confident that the friendships developed by the students during their stay in the college will serve them well in their assignments at both national and international levels and shall stand out as an important building block in Africa’s collective search for solutions to common national and international challenges.


In conclusion, he stressed to the graduands that success in their respective future careers depends on their commitment, dedication, discipline and above all, loyalty.


He also thanked the Commandant, the Directing Staff, Service Men and Women of the College, all of whom he noted had individually and collectively played an “important role” in the success of the College, as well as the course participants and their families whose hard work had gone into making the course a success.
