SADC / Combined Joint African Exercise (CJAX) Work Group Planning Meeting
Gaborone, 2-3 September 2009

The Combined Joint African Exercise Work Group Meeting which was organised by the African Conference of Commandants (ACoC) and held in Pretoria South Africa from the 11th-12th of June 2009 culminated in a number of decisions for implementation, one of which was to have a Planning Group Meeting comprising of different members of ACoC from the SADC Region. The role of the Planning Group is to adopt the timelines of the Command Post Exercise (CPX) that is expected to be conducted next year at the operational level. The Planning Group will also adopt the scenarios and other relevant issues related to the CPX before the third ACoC Conference that will be held in Egypt, later this year.

The meeting is also pursuant to the fulfillment of ACoC decision 6(d), which inter alia refers to the need for SADC to develop the concept of CJAX.

This Planning meeting will take place in Gaborone, Botswana from the 2-3 September 2009. The Botswana Defence Command and Staff College (BDCSC) will be hosting the meeting.
